Here is a quick summary of our current speaker’s bureau presentations: (we can tailor or combine the presentations to fit your needs)
 

• VAS General presentation: This is an overview of all of our programs and services, including: Homestead Exemption Application Assistance; New-to-Medicare; Medicare Open Enrollment; Fraud and Scams; and Power(s) of Attorney. This presentation is approximately 45 minutes with 15 minutes available for Q&A, it can be scheduled anytime through the year.
• Homestead Exemption Application Assistance Program: This presentation explains the Homestead Exemption program, who can qualify, and how we can help. It is usually scheduled between February 1 – May 15. It can be a “lunch and learn” style presentation (approximately 30 minutes) or can be combined with Fraud and Scams for an hour-long presentation.
• New-to-Medicare: This presentation is an excellent introduction to Medicare and covers both original/traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage, enrollment periods, etc. Participants are encouraged to follow up with a 1×1 appointment with VAS or their agent to review their specific situation.  It can be scheduled anytime during the year. This presentation is a full hour, and we reserve additional time afterward to answer questions.
• Medicare Open Enrollment: Discussion of why it is important for Medicare beneficiaries to take advantage of this opportunity to review their Prescription Drug Plan or Medicare Advantage Plan every year. The presentation takes about 45 minutes with 15 minutes for Q&A. These presentations are scheduled in August – October. Participants are encouraged to follow up with VAS or their agent during Open Enrollment, which is October 15 – December 7 every year.
• Fraud and Scams: This can be a stand-alone one hour or “lunch and learn” style presentation, it can also be combined with another topic. VAS is fortunate to have two trained Fraud Warriors through the Nebraska Department of Insurance who can be scheduled to discuss the types of fraud that are prevalent in our area, how to protect yourself, what to do if you suspect you have been compromised, and how to file a report. Our Fraud Warriors are also available to meet with clients 1 x 1 to provide counseling and assistance in filing a report.
• Power(s) of Attorney: This is a brief “lunch and learn” style presentation that can be combined with another topic. The presenter will review the different types of Power(s) of Attorney; why or why not to use a Power of Attorney; and Rights and Responsibilities. Participants will be encouraged to seek legal assistance to receive specific advice or assistance.
